Leading player with plenty of improvement in store. PLAY THE LEAD (14) ran below expectations last time at Nakayama, finishing sixth and beaten 5 lengths starting at $4. Very good in two runs prior to that so worth forgiving. GUARD OF HONOUR (6) missed the placings two runs back then didn't feature last start when 9 lengths away in 11th over 2000m at Nakayama. Finds a nice race and can play a significant role. NIGHT BIRD (3) is a two-start maiden who finished seventh, beaten 3 lengths, when resuming from a spell last start over 2000m at Nakayama. Definite top-three hope with plenty of improvement to come.
