Saratoga Race 12 - Whitney Stakes (G1)

NITROGEN (2) Blew her rivals away in the Phipps last start and now takes on the boys. She clocked a very fast time there over this same track and trip and this looks to shape similarly. Taking on stronger opposition now, but her last start was world class and a repeat will see her hard to run down. MAGNITUDE (1) won the G1 Stephen Foster last start at Churchill Downs, beating similar opposition. He led there and couldn't be caught, making it four wins in-a-row. He looks to have gone to another level this year and he can extend his winning run. What do we do with SOVEREIGNTY (6)? He had excuses first-up in the Oaklawn Handicap but he was very plain in the Stephen Foster last start. He did jump an odds-on pop still, but he's way off what he showed last year. Can't rule him out because he's one of the best in the world when he's on. BAEZA (8) gets a slight gear change which should help him early. He's a live chance if he breaks cleanly. ANTIQUARIAN (3) is next best.
