INTELLECT (8) was well-supported first up last start but found one better over 1609m at Aqueduct Turf (Turf), beaten 1.5 lengths. Has never been out of the placings at the second run back from a spell from three tries and should be better for that first-up run. Worth following up. RANGER BATTALION (10) finished out of the money two starts back then was beaten 4.5 lengths when fifth in a 1609m contest at Aqueduct six weeks ago after being in contention on the bend. This looks a sterner test than last time but on his best form he is capable of a big performance. TWO'S A CROWD (4) was a 6 length winner on turf at Aqueduct Turf two starts ago and lines up for a hat-trick here after make it two in a row with a dirt track win at Monmouth Park over 1609m a week-and-a-half ago. Hard to fault as he chases another win. Expected to feature. CANDYTOWN (9) is a promising type who hasn't raced since finishing 1.3 lengths away in fourth over 1710m at Listed level at Gulfstream Park Turf (Turf) on November 1. Has a strong fresh record including a win and one minor placings. This looks a nice way to kick off the prep. Something for the Multiples: EJTIMAA (1) SON OF A BIRCH (7)
