Newcastle Race 7 - The Prince Of Merewether (Bm66)

MISSILE MAGNATE (2) earns top billing after resuming with a determined Class 2 win at Muswellbrook, beating La Potenza by just over half a length when near the top of an open market. He comes into a tougher race today, but he has already won around this trip and the second-up profile gives him the right platform. JADE TREES (1) is the obvious danger with three wins from four starts this time in work, the latest offering a Class 3 win at Grafton on soft ground. Grady Spokes has won four from seven aboard and he is key to the five-year-old's prospects. SIPPING SHAMUS (9) has been competing in Saturday company at Rosehill and is much better suited back from that level, with his record at the distance a strong pointer. Expecting a lot more today. BOLD AND BLAZEN (4) has to rebound from a plain sixth at Illawarra Grange, but his Kembla second two back gives him a genuine each-way shout. Veteran mare CHESTIME (3) doesn't know how to run a bad race. Should be thereabouts again.

She was also third at Narromine two back when well-supported favourite despite being bumped early and covering ground. Wide draw makes the win harder, but she has been in the money at all three runs this prep and can hold that form.
