I'LL RISING (7) was also beaten as an odds-on favourite first-up, yet the margin was only two lengths over 920m and the added race fitness gives him scope to improve, with the rise in trip the main question. BANSHEE HARPY (9) owns the only recent win among the main hopes, scoring at Mombetsu two back, so her best is good enough if she rebounds from a plain Nagoya sixth. HARETERU (4) has placed in both starts and is from a strong track stable, though his latest third came a long way from the winner, leaving him more of a place-based danger than a standout winning threat.
