KATRINA'S LEGACY (2) is the one to beat after a debut second at Balaklava, where he was beaten a length on soft ground despite starting as only an outside chance. The close third in a recent Balaklava trial supports the idea he can return ready, and his debut run already reads well enough for this. MR KIMBLE (3) is the main danger if forgiven for ending his last campaign with a wide run as favourite at Strathalbyn; his previous fifth at this track, beaten just over a length on soft ground, is a better guide and he has placed at around 1000m. CHAMPAGNE LADIES (5) resumes for a new stable with a Strathalbyn trial win and had a genuine wide-without-cover excuse when well beaten at Ballarat Synthetic. Can feature. OUT ONTARIO (7) has first-time blinkers and her Balaklava fourth two back keeps her in the mix.
