PORTARLINGTON (3) took his time to wind up against the older horses first-up but finished strongly in restricted room late. He'll have taken improvement from that and should be sharper early with the blinkers going on for the first time. ICELADY (9) has shown promising signs in both runs back in Victoria and looks to be trending the right way. Expect Milnes to have her within striking distance turning for home before letting down strongly. BRAVE HUSTLER (4) produced an impressive finishing burst down the middle to score on debut at Murray Bridge. This is a much tougher assignment, though he's worth following up. VANDAROSS (1) comes through some strong juvenile races and hasn't been far away despite starting at big odds. The draw is awkward, but he's at peak fitness now and is worth including. MARBLES (12) is a Snitzel filly on debut for the Price & Kent Jnr stable. Has jumped out well leading in and comes from a yard renowned for getting them up and firing early doors.
