The last-start seventh as favourite over 990m was plain, but his Benchmark 41 win by just over a length showed he is effective under these conditions and the winning rider is back aboard. STATED (2) resumes from three months away after a Benchmark 56 win at this venue and brings the most consistent recent campaign, with a win and a placing from three starts at this track and distance. MFETHU (6) has to rebound from a well-beaten fourth, but his previous Benchmark 56 second was strong enough for this and the weight relief is significant. SALT 'N PEPPA (1) was disappointing as an odds-on favourite when resuming, though his prior Benchmark 56 win and strong jockey record keep him a genuine placing chance if he finds that earlier form.
