MR JAWS (5) finished 0.6 lengths from the winner in fourth last start after being prominent at the bend over 1609m at Lone Star Park Turf, an improvement on his sixth at this track the run before. It doesn't get any easier but on his best form he is capable of testing his rivals. YO SOY ROY (3) made it back-to-back wins when successful last start over 1673m at Sam Houston Park (Dirt), getting home by 1.75 lengths. This looks a sterner test than last time but on current form he is one of the key runners. PAINTED LAD (1) looks close to a win, finishing in the placings at his last couple of runs including a second most recently over 1609m at Lone Star Park Turf (Turf) when beaten 0.3 lengths. Big chance to break through. CHAMPAGNE STOOPER (6) was beaten 11 lengths into seventh over 1609m at Lone Star Park Turf last time out. Well placed to turn things around.
