Launceston Race 3 - Salters Hire Hcp (C2)

THICKSKINNED (2) started in the red in a field of four over 1400m here last Friday but didn't quicken as hoped and beat just one home. Improved sharply last prep when he stepped up to the mile, taking out a Class 1 here under 59kgs. Finds the right race to put the record straight. REGAL HUNTER (1) had a 37-day let-up before leading but finding one better over this course and distance last start. Likes racing here and has been in the money at four of five runs over the mile. Poses a major threat. SNOWDONIA (8) came from midfield to be beaten just a head over 1420m at this circuit recently. Yet to be tested beyond that trip but all signs are she will run this out strongly. CAVARETTA (7) switched from Waller to the Barry Campbell stable and was coming off a five-month spell when an impressive winner a fortnight ago over 1420m here. Should relish the extra trip and another big run is on the cards. The lightly raced STOLLAWAY NED (4) is going well and looks ready to step up in distance.
