GEEGEES MERCEDES (5) ran a couple of close seconds on the Devonport Synthetic before catching the eye late in proceedings here last Friday over 1120m. In form mare who draws a nice gate and looks ideally placed to score over this slightly longer journey. VERHOEVEN (2) returns after an 11-week absence. Came from last to be beaten in a photo when fresh from a spell in a Class 2 at Hobart last prep. Huge chance here if he recaptures that form. GEEGEES ACE (1) had his first run in two months when a moderate sixth over 1100m at this track recently. Comes right into calculations with added fitness over an extra 100m. VORTISTAR (3) is first-up after a 24-week spell. Placed at both runs here over 1200m. Trialling in good style so he looks forward enough to run a big race. SAY IT WITH WORDS (9) is back on turf for the first time in a long while. One for the exotics.
