PORTICO (4) was ridden closer to the speed last start over 1100m at Hawkesbury and he battled on well for third without ever looking a threat in the run home. Has raced twice over 1000m and filled a placing on each occasion. Very fit and should be hard to hold out. DIRTY SUMMER (3) has been tried over 1400m+ at his last couple of outings and failed to deliver. Given a little reset and is capable of a bright performance back to this distance. YAMASHITA (7) appreciated dropping back to a country maiden and got the job done recently over a similar trip to this at Moruya. Faces a far deeper assignment today but he races well at Kembla and is on the ascendancy. ARTEMEX (6) started at $2.50 and won his maiden by the barest margin last start over today's journey at Hawkesbury. Capable of taking this next step. PERFORMANCE (1) has not appeared since Boxing Day. Impressive in two runs in town in the maiden campaign. Trialling well and should be right there at the business end.
