Istanbul Race 7 - Race 7
TERRAFERMA (9) draws barrier 1 and comes off back-to-back 2nds at Kocaeli 1400m (22 Sep) and Istanbul 1200m (4 Oct), both at 55kg, suggesting he holds his form on a short turnaround. GIANT WAVE (5) maps well from barrier 3 and has solid 1400m/1600m efforts this prep, including 2nd at Ankara 1400m (22 Aug) before a respectable 4th here over 1600m (27 Sep) at 53kg. BAY MENTOR (2) is third-up and has been around the mark at Istanbul 1200m, placing 2nd in a 2Y MDN on 18 Sep and 3rd prior, and steps to 1500m. MACAPA (7) was 4th in an Istanbul 2Y MDN over 1500m (9 Aug) and returns second-up with a better barrier (2).

First-up after 4 months and draws barrier 4, having raced twice at Istanbul without placing. Last seen 29 May over 1000m at Istanbul, 4th of 6 under 55kg on GOOD, with King Cemil winning; prior run was 5th of 6 over 800m on GOOD3. Steps up 500m today, and the set-up should give a clearer guide to where he fits this prep.

Second-up after a 59-day break, this Elarqam juvenile was 6th of 11 over 1300m at Istanbul on debut in a 2Y COND, drawn the same barrier 6 and carrying 57kg. Steps up 200m today, and that experience behind Ada Efsanesi should tighten him for this.

Fourth-up and back 300m after an 11th of 11 at Adana over 1300m on GOOD. Prior to that ran 4th of 8 at both Istanbul (1200m, 2Y COND 1) and Ankara (1200m, SOFT), and now draws barrier 8 after a 5-gate shift. Honest efforts at 1200m suggest this drop in trip could suit if she holds that level.

Third-up and back 100m after a 4th of 8 at Istanbul over 1600m (TB) 15 days ago, drawn better from barrier 3 this time. Earlier ran 2nd over 1400m at Ankara (TB) carrying 57kg, and now drops to 53kg with H. Karataş aboard from a favourable gate. Progressive profile at the trip and the draw should aid a handy run.

Fourth-up and back to 1200m after a 1500m run at Kocaeli, with a 300m drop in trip that could suit at this stage of his prep. Has twice raced at Istanbul, including an 8th in a 2Y MDN over 1200m on soft on 18 Sep, and was drawn wide when 8th in a 2Y COND over 1300m here earlier. With barrier 7 and Ö.f.özen taking over, he looks a work-in-progress but can be kept in mind for improvement.

Second-up after a 64-day freshen, he resumed with a solid 4th of 10 over 1500m at Istanbul in a 2Y MDN, drawn 7 and carrying 57kg on GOOD ground behind Warrior Pointe. Draws better here from barrier 2, and sticks with Ayhan Kurşun who rode him last start, suggesting a tidy run is within reach.

First-up after 3 months, he improved with each Ankara 1200m 2Y MDN run, closing to 3rd of 7 on 30 Jun under 57kg behind Beautiful Light and Love Of America. Steps up 300m and draws barrier 9 after a wide Istanbul debut from 10, with E.Çankaya engaged again; measured progress suggests further improvement is possible.

Placed in both runs since the gear change in September, finishing 2nd at Kocaeli over 1400m on 22 Sep and again 2nd at Istanbul over 1200m on 4 Oct under Ali Yildiz. Draws barrier 1 and comes back on a short turnaround with a 300m drop in trip, which suits given the latest near-miss at Istanbul. Progressing through the prep and maps to get every chance from the inside gate.
