CHOIR BOY (1) is the obvious danger after missing by a neck at Gordonvale despite racing wide and being bumped late, and his long partnership with Ivo Fry is a strong asset. On top. NOVELA (6) is a key runner despite the plain Cairns result, with that BM62 effort offset by being steadied near the 1000m and by a much better Class 4 second at Ewan when beaten a nose as favourite. He drops sharply in weight, is proven at 1200m and the quick back-up is a positive for him. SPIRIT MEISTER (3) brings a recent Atherton win over The Extreme Cat and has already beaten CHOIR BOY this campaign, though his Cairns fourth came with some tractability issues. HYDE PARK (5) is not as reliable for the win, but his Townsville fourth in Class 6 company was sound after a slow start and the lighter weight gives him a genuine place claims.
