Gosford Race 1 - Paul Finn Memorial Midway Hcp (C1)

SAPLING (3) is the one to beat fresh, with two trial wins since last racing and the latest at Gosford two weeks ago giving her a genuine readiness pointer. Her last-start Randwick-Kensington failure on heavy ground was plain, but she had been tackling FM BM64 company and brings the best established profile. Hard to stop. PRINCE DE VEGA (7) has been around the mark all campaign and his record at around 1200m, with five placings from seven starts, keeps him right in the contest despite the absence of a win at the trip. SUN TO ME (1) has come back in good order, winning a Maiden at Tuncurry before closing strongly for second at Newcastle after being held up. FIREWORK (6) resumes with mixed recent form, but his one win and one place from two starts at this track make him a genuine place threat if he is forward enough.
