Gold Coast Race 4 - Pipe Dreams & Photo Finishes Jericho Cup - Heat (Bm70)
SAMURAI WARRIOR (1) has built nicely into this campaign and while it's his first look at this sort of trip the way he's been finishing off suggests he will relish it. MISS DYNAMO (5) is another obvious danger after putting away his rivals with ease at the Sunny Coast as favourite. Tougher now but is a live chance if she holds her form under the light weight. AYASAKI (3) was no match for his rivals last time when below his best, though his Doomben nose second to Whatjeudoin' keeps him in the mix if he rebounds. PELEVECCHIO (4) rises from a Taree BM66 placing into stronger company but has always hinted she's better over a staying trip.

Worked home soundly when fourth in a BM80 at Doomben last start, beaten a length and a half by Captain Maverick after being bumped early and held up near the 250m. That was Saturday company and this is an easier assignment, while his Sunshine Coast second to Prochester two back was also honest. The new 3200m is the query, but wet form gives him a place case.

Was unable to quicken when fifth to Trusty Bandit at Eagle Farm last start, beaten seven lengths in a small mid-week field. His previous Doomben second to Whatjeudoin' was far stronger, beaten only a nose at 2240m after travelling well. Place claims if he rebounds.

Went close in a Taree BM66 last start, finishing third and beaten just under a length on soft ground after holding her spot to the line. The run prior in a BM82 at Port Macquarie was sound enough after covering ground and conceding a big start. Stronger race and new 3200m ask more, but she has each-way claims.

Produced a decisive Sunshine Coast BM60 win last start, beating Ormond Road by two and a half lengths as favourite after looming up and putting the race away. That followed a solid fifth in BM65 grade when she made ground from well back. Class rise and new trip are the tests, but she is a danger.

Comes around quickly after finishing sixth at Gold Coast Poly in a BM65, beaten just over eight lengths after being slow away but picking up in the straight. She was also second last at Gatton in BM58 grade eight days earlier after racing keenly and wide. Hard to recommend strongly.

Has been out of form this campaign, most recently finishing second last in a Class 2 at Sunshine Coast when beaten over 12 lengths after making no late impression. He was last at Toowoomba in BM58 grade the run before and was unwanted in betting both times. The class drop and 1.5kg claim offer some relief, but his current form leaves him with plenty to find. Unlikely to threaten.

Backs up from Gold Coast Poly where he finished last in a BM65, beaten over 11 lengths after settling well back and merely keeping on. His Lismore third in a Class 1 over 2120m two back was better, although he was unwanted in the market there and raced keenly. With three previous starts around 3200m for no wins or placings, the distance remains a clear stumbling block. Looking to others for the winner.
