MALAMAGIC (8) is an appealing debutant for the sharp Gollan stable, with three 1000m Doomben trials behind him and a pedigree headed by full sister Malaboom, a Listed winner at this trip. Bright start anticipated. PALMANOVA (10) resumes with the strongest exposed profile after tackling the LR Oxlade Stakes here in June. Didn't have everything go her way there in testing conditions but has been readied with a trial and gets a good chance to shed the tag. SYMMETRIQUE (4) also starts his career with genuine claims after being fitted with a few sharp trials, while first-time blinkers and the apprentice claim add to the set-up. Former-Victorian NO NO NO NO NO (3) has had two trials for the new stable and is drawn cosy. Is another worth considering. DRAGON LINK (2) has attracted firm market support to date without saluting but looks to have come back in great order, dominating his lead-up trial. Expecting him to be right there fresh.

Resumes after eight months off having twice gone under as an odds-on favourite last campaign, most recently beaten a nose at Gold Coast Poly after beginning awkwardly and covering ground. He had also been second at Sunshine Coast, so the ability is there, and an easy Deagon trial win is encouraging. Two seconds last campaign read well, though odds-on defeats keep the assessment measured.

Resumes after six months off for a new stable and has had two trials, the latest a Ballina third. He was placed at all three Victorian starts, including a Geelong third when wide early and hanging in, while the Werribee second showed he can be competitive. Has trialled well in readiness and can make a bright start in the new colours.

Makes his debut for Robert Heathcote with a close Doomben trial second eight days ago and a dominant 1000m trial win before that. First-time blinkers go on, Jace McMurray claims 1.5kg, and barrier two gives him the right platform to begin well. Drawn to get every chance and can make an immediate impact.

Returned with a solid Gold Coast second on soft ground, beaten just under a length by Dirty Harry after travelling well near the speed. That was a clear improvement on his final run before the break, when tenth at Sunshine Coast. One of the place hopes.

Went very close when resuming at Gold Coast, pressing forward and being beaten a neck by Bodmin Moor over 1000m. He was fitter for that after a break and Ashley Butler stays aboard, which is a plus. Warrants respect.

Debuts for Tony Gollan after three 1000m Doomben trials, the latest a solid second, and barrier one gives him a kind introduction. He is by Spirit Of Boom out of Malasun and a full brother to Listed winner Malaboom, with plenty of speed influence in the family. Full brother to Listed winner Malaboom and looks ready to run well.

Resumes after five months off and brings the strongest exposed form, having tackled the Listed Oxlade Stakes at this track before the break after being bumped early. Her Doomben third prior, beaten just under a length as favourite, reads well for this, and a Deagon trial second supports her readiness. Prior Doomben placing reads strongly and she looks set for a bright return.

Finished fourth on debut at Sunshine Coast, beaten five and a half lengths after leading into the lane and tiring on soft ground. She was at generous odds and laid in through the straight, so there is race experience to build on. The 1000m is new and improvement is required.

Returns from a two-month freshening after finishing fourth at Gold Coast Poly as a well-supported favourite, where she was fractious at the start and raced rearward. Her Beaudesert fifth before that had more merit, beaten just under a length after making ground. Better run two back, but the 1000m profile is thin.
