OFF THE PRESS (7) is desperate to strike. Was well supported at Toowoomba but was on the back foot early after missing the start. He got home strongly into third but it was all too late. Senior hoop taking over helps as he drops back to a pet trip. Capable of knocking off the shorty. PROPAGANDA (12) is an exciting gelding who has crafted quite the record in his six starts. Perhaps the only knock is his 1200m strength, but he gets a great chance to answer the query third-up. STANISLAUS (2) caused an upset here last month when finding career-best form. Has been kept up to the mark with a tick-over trial win, 35 days between runs and drops back to a favoured trip. Have to respect. HUON (6) has patchy form but boasts peaks that are up to the mark and retains Thompson in the saddle. Not dismissing. TONNEOFGRIT (1) has just missed in his last two and deserves a spot in exotic plays.

That followed a plain last in a BM85 at Eagle Farm, where he raced wide throughout and was beaten over 12 lengths at long odds. First-time blinkers and his track-distance record help, but he will have to lift sharply. Can't recommend.
