Terrific end to the day with the Guineas. MALDINI (7) is a former Victorian having first run for the new yard and is coming off stakes races in Melbourne. Only needs to transfer that form to the Darwin surface and should be tough to beat. HAMMURABI (4) was a six-length winner fresh then stepped up to 1300m latest and won again. Hard to fault and is a smart local who should measure up. LEVERAGED BUYOUT (6) was in the wake of HAMMURABI latest but that was off a let-up and well back in journey. The start prior was runner-up over 2000m in the Alice Springs Cup so will relish the extra ground and has the quality. MERIMBULA (8) just missed in the same race behind HAMMURABI last time and looks suited by the extra ground. MORGANA (11) will be better for the first run here and is another who will enjoy the longer journey.
