His record around 1000m is strong enough to make the shorter trip a positive and he can feature. NAPOLEON STRIKE (3) brings very reliable recent form, with close thirds at Townsville and Mt Isa, and the drop to 56kg gives him a genuine chance to turn those placings into a win. COCHRANE (4) was only just denied at Ewan and has the most persuasive track-and-distance profile among the main hopes, though barrier 10 leaves him with more to overcome. CONTEMPORARY (1) was well held as favourite at Mt Isa, but his Mackay 3yo+ Class 6 win two back and proven 1000m record keep him in the mix for a placing.
