LORAX (2) produced an eye-catcher when returning from a five-month spell last start, coming from near the tail on the corner to finish a length away in third over 1100m at Randwick. Suited by the extra 100m and drops back to midweek company. Great chance to break through. THREADS (1) did dome early work after missing the kick then boxed on okay to finish fourth when resuming last time over 1100m at the Kensington track. Black Opal placegetter over this trip second-up last prep so there is plenty of improvement to come. SAVAGRAM (7) is a full brother to Australia Derby winner Savabeel on debut for Gai and Adrian. Sure to need more ground eventually but while fresh he is a key contender. Stablemate ONTHETOE (5) also lines up for the first time. Trial form okay but the betting will paint a fuller picture. Spirit Of Boom gelding CANTERO (3) for the Hawkes camp is on debut. Five siblings to race have won 25 races between them. Likely to have some talent.
