Belmont Park Race 7 - Joe Hirsch Turf Classic S. Stakes

EL CORDOBES (1) was well fancied but below his best at the last run before a break on February 14, finishing fifth over 2400m at Group 1 level at Al Rayyan. Starts this prep with Flavien Prat taking charge. Sound record at this distance with three wins and four minor placings from eight runs and is a key runner. PRIDE OF ARRAS (4) has progressed nicely in his last couple of runs. Finished second in the G2 York Stakes two starts back then got the job done by one length last time out over 2414m in the G3 September Stakes at Kempton Park All Weather. Rossa Ryan scored on him last time and retains the ride. Needs to be at his best to beat this field but he is up to the challenge. FORT GEORGE (7) is fitter for two runs from a spell, last start finishing 4 lengths away in third over 2414m in the G2 Kentucky Cup Turf Stakes (Turf). Cannot be overlooked. MINARET STATION (5) went forward and gave a great sight when second over 2414m in the G1 Christophe Clement Turf (Sword Dancer) Stakes at Saratoga Inner Turf (Turf) last time out. Yet to break through this time in but hasn't been far away, with three placings to his name. Not to be discounted.

Expecting a bright start to the campaign.
