Belmont Race 1 - Wittens Irrigation & Design Plate
The 2YOs get things underway and MORNING THUNDER (1) can go one better. He jumped an odds-on favourite last start at this track and trip and just felt the pinch of being fresh and without a trial. He'll be better for that run now and this looks to set up favourably again. He can turn the tables on FARNOVA (2) who won impressively last start, running over the top to beat MORNING THUNDER by 2L. The wide draw is a niggle, though it won't matter too much if they ride her similarly to last time. Will need some things to go her way again, but she showed last start she has the talent. ROCKIN' SERENITY (7) relished the heavy deck at this track and trip last time out, winning her maiden in fine style. Pike opts to stick with her over MORNING THUNDER in a good push for her chances. She carries no weight and can make the jump to Saturday grade. PUCKER UP (13) looks to have some ability on debut and is not to be discounted. HEAVENLY PARADISE (8) can go one better without surprising.
