Ballarat Race 5 - Hygain Edge (Bm56)

LES BRAVES (1) broke his maiden on this very weekend last year, when he took a handy maiden at Seymour on Cup Day. Was first-up that day too, albeit over 1200, so has to do it at 1000m but looks the classiest horse in the race and gets in quite nicely after the 3kg claim. KOKO (4) went forward and gave a great sight before finishing third last time out over 1000m at Mornington, which followed an overdue maiden win. Should be thereabouts again. BECAUSEYOU'RE MINE (8) resumed over 1000m at Warrnambool and was only beaten 1.2 lengths into fourth. That was in BM62 grade, when he had good support at double-figure odds, so he might have come back a better horse. BIFROST (2) progressed nicely last time out to finish just half a length from the winner in second over 1000m at Warrnambool. Only needs to repeat that to play a key role. EL SALTO (9) needs it a touch easier to be a winning hope, but he's drawn to maintain the consistent recent form.
