Ascot Race 5 - Afgri Equipment (Bm78+)

ABERDEEN FLYER (7) won the Roberts before just missing in the Melvista and not running the extra trip of the Derby. His trial recently was superb and suspect he'll be a miler this time in. Maps to get every chance on resumption and he's very attractive with the profile he brings into this. POND MASTER (9) won by a nose fresh before a narrow defeat last start at 1200m behind SIX SHOOTER. Out to 1400m now is a good move and he's won 2/3 when third-up in the past. Drops in weight and can get back to winning ways without surprising. ELITE MISSILE (2) had fans in the Hannans but got well back and never featured when fresh. He usually dips second-up, but his fresh run was too bad to be true and he can improve quickly under this scenario. SIX SHOOTER (4) was just fair in a recent trial. Out to 1400m now is a niggle, but it's hard to knock his winning form. NOBLE CONNECTION (5) trialled nicely recently and has claims first-up.

Nearly pinched the Listed Hannans Handicap at Kalgoorlie last week, leading to the turn and going under by a neck to Hoba West at long odds. That was a sharp lift on his second-last effort in the Listed Farnley Stakes, but this is a harder venue and he carries top weight even with the claim. Was well below expectations first-up in the Listed Hannans Handicap at Kalgoorlie, finishing 11th and beaten eight and a half lengths after settling rearward and making no impression. His fourth in the Listed Old Comrade Stakes at this venue last campaign is a much better guide, and he is a track-and-trip winner. Things didn't go to plan last start at Kalgoorlie but he's better than that and an improved run is on the cards.

Has come back in good order, winning a Benchmark 72+ at Belmont Park over 1000m before going under by only a neck to Six Shooter in the same grade over 1200m. He travelled well and fought hard last start, and now reaches the third run of the campaign with a solid 1400m record behind him. Just missed last start but things look to shape nicely third-up out in distance.
