HELEN'S CROWN (7) is the one to beat despite a plain Class 1 run at Muswellbrook last start, because her Canberra third two back reads strongly for this grade after she was held up on the home turn and was beaten just over half a length. The class drop and proven wet-track record give her a sound platform. TOMOE GOZEN (1) also comes back sharply from Class 3 company and is better than two heavy defeats at Tamworth suggest, with the return of a winning rider and a two-win record around 1100m in her favour. TREAD THE BOARDS (4) was safely held first-up at Moree, but her close Lightning Ridge third before that and Class 1 form give her a place profile if she rebounds second-up. HIPPEASTRUM (3) brings the winning form after scoring at Bundarra and Inverell, although the move from picnic grade into a harder meeting asks her to prove that streak at a stronger level.
