STELLA BYSTARLIGHT (6) looks the runner to beat after making it back-to-back victories with a determined all-the-way win over this course and distance last time out. She has an outstanding record at her home track with three wins, maps to settle on the speed again and will take plenty of catching. RUBIQUITY (4) resumes after a 3-month break and debuts for the Lisa Whittle stable. His previous campaign in Victoria was very good, and any market support would enhance his winning claims. SCISSOR ME TIMBERS (5) was well fancied but failed to fire last start over 1100m here. His record at this course and distance is far more encouraging, having finished in the placings at both attempts, and a return to his best would see him right in the finish. EXCUSES EXCUSES (1) has been a competitive veteran for a long time, and he resumes after 8 months on the sidelines but he has shown enough fresh previously, including a runner-up finish over this track and trip, to warrant plenty of respect.
