The winning run of star colt HOLLYWOOD STRIP (7) came to an end in last week's Gold Chalice final at Bathurst but it was still a brave performance when he kept chasing for a 2m third. Had previously won his first nine starts, two at Group 1 level including last month's NSW Derby when he overcame the widest barrier. Has beaten older rivals before so expect a return to the winners' list. MIKE ROSS NZ (1) looks close to a win having come from wider barriers to place in his last two outings at Bathurst. Race fit now and gets the ace draw. WAMBOYNEINAMERICA (6) makes his first appearance since finishing runner-up at Menangle three-and-a-half months ago but was readied with an easy trial win. CARLO GAMBINO NZ (5) continued his good form when beaten less than 4m last start, giving him two wins and two seconds from his last five starts here. Respect along with MICHAYWEY (10) who draws on the back row but has been racing well at Menangle including a win two back.
