HUGO (2) had nothing go to plan last start and had sound form in higher-graded races prior including a placing from a wider barrier four back at Addington. Should have no excuses from this advantageous draw. SALUTE (6) has had two starts this campaign and while yet to finish in the top three he showed improvement last time when fifth at Oamaru. Won his only previous third up attempt so could be ready to peak. The recent form of DAWN TO DARK (7) may not be up to his best but he has won four of seven attempts at this distance. That stat must be respected. THE MANDALORIAN (5) cruised home in a last-start win at Reefton. All weather stats are concerning but he is going well.
