Melton Race 4 - Woodlands Stud Victoria Derby Final (Group 1)

PALLADIUM NZ (4) was one of the most impressive performers in last week's heats when he found the front and drew away to score by 5.7m at this circuit and distance. Won the Queensland Derby over 2680m in July so appears to relish these longer distances. Should be able to push forward from this barrier so could land another derby. BROOKLYN DAN (1) came from this barrier to win another of last week's heats, using the sprint lane to score by 1.7m. He'll be hitting his peak third-up and should enjoy a soft run. That sees him as a danger along with Vicbred winner ENJOY LIFE (9). He has been handed another back row draw but came from there and dug deep to win last week. Has a phenomenal strike rate and just needs some gaps to be a strong hope again. NYMBAL NZ (3) came from wider when he chased Palladium as runner-up last week and had this barrier when he beat that rival in Sydney prior. Draws well so is a player at each way odds. Not a great draw for SOHO TRUMP (11) but he is racing well.
