Rises in grade but a repeat performance could see him go close again. CRUSHER CLYDE NZ (8) kept his manners in check when returning to the winners' list here last start. That was his fourth success from his last five outings, the defeat coming when he broke. Draws for a trail and could strike again. QUIRKY CHARACTER (3) has ground to make up on KYVALLEY MAVEN through the last-start second but had won three in a row prior and draws better. Owns good statistics at the circuit and the distance so could bounce back. MCGEE (5) enjoys a big class drop after tackling the Great Southern Star last start.
