COURMAYEUR (4) recorded yet another strong performance last time when she battled on bravely to just miss out over 2700m at this track, adding to a string of recent minor placings. Leading hope based on that latest outing. PANTANI (2) could only manage to finish sixth at his latest appearance over 2700m at this track, a poor reflection on his short quote. Form prior to that was strong, including a victory over 2700m at Cambridge Raceway two starts ago. Will enjoy a nice run from this favourable starting position. His recent effort is not a true indication. Good enough to win a race of this calibre. HALBERG (6) comes right into contention after scoring last start by 1.1 metres at Hawera over 2000m. FAITH IN MANCHESTER (5) is the best of the rest after finishing fifth over 1609m at this track last time out.
