Rotorua Race 2 - HAVE YOUR FUNCTION AT ARAWA PARK 1230
L'AIGLE NOIR (2) resumes today after a six-and-a-half-month break, having ended last campaign with a fourth over 1200m at Te Rapa. He is a lot stronger now and has been shaping up nicely at the trials. On top for us. ATKINS (4) was ridden quietly off a wide gate fresh at Taupo over 1000m, making up some late ground to finish eighth. The extra 230m will suit her, and she should figure in the top 4 this time. SILKY SHUBA (5) returns from a spell after a fifth over 1230m here on a heavy track in July. She has had a couple of trials, and a firmer surface will help. Watch the market closely. COSMIC DREAM (8) is a debut runner by Cosmic Force and scored nicely in a recent Taupo trial win under today's jockey, George Rooke. She won her only other trial before that and will be ready to rumble fresh up. WHATZ DONE IS DONE (7) tried hard for fourth off a muddling pace at Pukekohe 18 days ago on a heavy track there. She would not mind a better track, and won't be in this grade for long.
