A good contest. COAL RIVER (5) won as expected on the synthetic before his placing as favourite at Hobart in a CL4 over 1400m. He's on a 5-day return and the mile shouldn't pose an issue. Maps well and Newitt sticks aboard. HAPPY CLAN (2) resumed at Hobart this grade over 1400m and needed the outing. He's won 2/4 second-up and the step-up to the mile is ideal. Gets in well with the 3kg claim and is a winning proposition. The former SA galloper CRUZ MISSILE (3) has his third start for the McShane stable and is heading in the right direction. Ran his best race over this distance, leading and winning a 76 at Morphettville Parks by 4.2L on a heavy surface. STONE COLD STUNNER (1) led and won well this trip on the synthetic and she's delivered 2/2 this course distance. Draws low with a 2kg claim and will get every chance to deliver the hat-trick.
